What you will do: The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner to assigned departments or business units, providing expert guidance and support across all facets of Human Resources. In this role, the HRBP partners closely with leadership to align people strategies with SECU's organizational goals, fostering a high-performance culture and enhancing overall business effectiveness. This position plays a critical role in supporting leadership, strengthening workforce engagement, and ensuring that HR initiatives contribute to a positive employee experience. As a collaborative member of the HR team, the HRBP will partner with the team members to address HR related matters and contribute to organization-wide initiatives. This position requires a solutions-oriented professional with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, a deep understanding of HR best practices, and the ability to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization. A strong business acumen and a passion for supporting a positive, inclusive workplace culture are essential to success in this role. The HRBP adheres to regulations and organizational policies, maintaining awareness and knowledge required to perform the duties of the position, including all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act and related regulations, such as OFAC, and the USA Patriot Act, Fair Lending and Information Security.   • Administers a variety of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSAs), 401(k), COBRA, tuition reimbursement, life and disability insurance, and employee recognition programs. Responsibilities include plan enrollments, changes, terminations, billing reconciliation, claims processing and resolution, and providing ongoing employee support
  • Manages employee benefits communications, including new hire orientations, ongoing employee education, and presentations to promote awareness and understanding of total rewards offerings.
  • Participates and conducts audits of various benefit plan reports; assists with communicating plan updates and ensures compliance of plan rules
  • Leads the planning and execution of the annual open enrollment process, including communication, system updates, vendor coordination, and auditing of enrollment data for accuracy.
  • Supports leave administration of supported divisions (e.g. FMLA, FFCRA, STD, and LTD).
  • Manages benefits compliance including completion of the FASB-106 report, Medicare Creditable Coverage Notice, 5500 reporting, and other annual compliance requirements.
  • Assists with ACA compliance, including monitoring employee eligibility, ensuring accurate data tracking, and supporting annual reporting and audit needs
  • Manages relationships with external benefits vendors, serving as a point of escalation for issue resolution and ensuring high service levels.
  • Supports the coordination and promotion of wellness initiatives, collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to drive employee engagement and well-being.
  • Monitors industry trends and regulatory changes, providing recommendations for plan design changes or new offerings to ensure benefits remain competitive and compliant.
Talent Management
  • Partners with leadership to identify critical talent needs and develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop high-performing employees.
  • Supports succession planning initiatives by helping to identify key roles and potential successors within the organization.
  • Assists in conducting talent assessments, performance reviews, and skills gap analyses to inform workforce planning and development efforts.
  • Monitors employee engagement and turnover trends, providing insights and recommendations to improve retention and organizational culture.
  • Supports diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within talent management practices to build a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Employee Relations
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees on performance management, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns.
  • Conducts thorough and timely investigations into employee complaints, policy violations, and other workplace issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
  • Partners with leadership to address employee performance or behavioral concerns, including coaching, documentation, and disciplinary actions when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with legal, compliance, and HR leadership to ensure employee relations practices align with employment laws, internal policies, and organizational values.
  • Analyzes trends in employee relations issues to identify opportunities for manager training, policy improvement, and proactive risk mitigation.
Compensation
  • Conducts compensation analyses to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness, supporting fair and consistent job offers, promotions, and pay decisions.
  • Partners with external salary partners to benchmark salary data and maintain competitive compensation practices aligned with market trends.
  • Assists in the development, evaluation, and maintenance of salary structures, pay grades, job descriptions, and job classifications in accordance with organizational needs.
  • Supports annual compensation processes, including merit reviews, salary adjustments, and incentive programs, ensuring alignment with budget and performance goals.
Other Duties and Responsibilities will be required.What we need from you:Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required. SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in Human Resources capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in working with Human Resources Information Systems, ADP software products, highly desired.
  • 3+ years of experience providing strategic human resource generalist support.
  • Knowledge of HR systems, workflow, benefits design, health, and 401(k).
  • Requires demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing employment practices, including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, etc.
  • Seasoned HR professional with strong generalist tactical experience with a proven track record to support strategic people initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are required to work effectively with all levels of management and staff
  • Project management experience, with ability to respond to changing priorities, and enjoyment of fast-paced, dedicated, technically challenging work environment
  • Ability to work independently in managing multiple projects and display strong consultative, problem-solving, negotiating, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong commitment to employees as evidenced by responsive, well-crafted communications via email, phone or in-person
  • Must be member/customer focused, creative, flexible with a passion for the overall well-being of employees.
  • Must have impeccable attention to detail with the ability to analyze data.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and internet research skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle information involving, sensitivity, confidentiality and legal exposure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to all locations in the Maryland area as required.
Compensation Information: Offers will be commensurate with experience and education. The Salary Range is $88,500 - $141,700, however, we typically hire at or below mid-point, which is $115,100 for this role.
