HR Assistant

Hubbard is looking for someone to fill the position of HR Assistant for the pedigree breeding operations based in Walpole, NH. This individual will be responsible for direction and coordination primarily for recruitment and onboarding with additional daily tasks. This position will report to the Human Resources Generalist. This position will be expected to be a conceptual thinker with strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. To ensure success, the ideal candidate should display strong community engagement skills and a passion for connecting people with meaningful work in agriculture settings. Top candidates must be able to manage conflict and be effective at scheduling and thorough in the recruitment process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Agriculture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 1+ years of experience in recruiting, preferably in agriculture, poultry production, or manufacturing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of all various employment practices, ethics, policies, and/or laws are desirable.
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills.
  • Good understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Comfortable with high-volume, fast-paced recruiting and working in rural communities.
  • Ability to travel locally between farm sites, hatchery, and community events as needed.
  • Highly computer literate with the capability in email, MS Office, Kronos, Workday and related business and communication tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist and/or transfer to the proper channels with internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Collaborate with farm managers, hatchery leads, and HR leadership to forecast hiring needs and develop proactive recruiting plans for hourly roles.
  • Post and manage job advertisements across multiple channels including Indeed, local job boards, social media, and internal career portals.
  • Build pipelines of qualified candidates through local outreach efforts such as job fairs, agricultural programs, career centers, high schools, and community partnerships.
  • Conduct pre-screen interviews, coordinate on-site interviews, conduct interviews, and assist managers in the candidate selection process.
  • Guide candidates through the hiring process including pre-employment screening, onboarding, and orientation scheduling.
  • Partner with HR team on retention strategies, hiring needs, and workforce planning.
  • Conduct regular site visits to maintain employee engagement, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with operational goals.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practice.

  • Frequent interruptions and differences in work schedule
  • Frequently reaching, walking, standing, lifting, or carrying equipment and materials may be required.
  • May be required to lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
