The Part-Time Human Resources Assistant provides direct support to the Human Resources team by assisting with a wide range of HR-related duties. This role helps ensure efficient day-to-day HR operations while promoting a welcoming and service-focused environment consistent with our mission of respect, dignity, and service to others. Key responsibilities include maintaining employee records in our HRIS, assisting with leave management inquiries, supporting onboarding activities, and assisting with other general administrative duties. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Assist with maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records and personnel files.
Support the onboarding process by reviewing received documentation for accuracy
Perform general administrative support for the HR team, including filing, scanning, data entry, and correspondence
Help organize HR documents related to compliance, training, performance reviews and other HR areas
Track and maintain a departmental HR calendar to track deadlines for benefit enrollments, evaluations, trainings, compliance, etc.
Assist in responding to routine employee questions and direct more complex inquiries to appropriate HR team member
Support the planning and execution of HR projects and employee engagement initiatives
Maintain confidentiality and always follow data protection of protocols
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field required
Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in human resources, office administration, or a related support role
Working knowledge of HR best practices and confidentiality requirements
Proficiency in Google Workspace and the ability to quickly learn new systems
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work professionally and compassionately with individuals from diverse backgrounds
Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information and HR matters
A team player with a proactive approach and willingness to support and contribute to a collaborative work environment

Exercises sound judgement and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and ethical standards in all HR activities

Experience using HRIS platforms (Paylocity) strongly preferred
Familiarity with recruitment and onboarding processes
Knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance standards, and recordkeeping practices
Bilingual or multilingual ability is a plus
Previous experience working in a non-profit, mission-driven, or social services environment
Comfort with creating forms, surveys, and communication using digital tools such as Google Workspace
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to type, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds while moving files or small packages. The employee may have to drive to varying locations to meet with staff and/or partners. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
