Human Resource Intern Department: Administration Reports To: City Administrator Non-exempt Last Updated 09/03/2025 Summary Under the supervision of the City Administrator, the intern will work with the Human Resource Specialist to update various human resource policies, and procedures. This internship will take place through the current school year with a strong potential of becoming a Full Time Human Resource & Payroll Specialist beginning the summer of 2026, based on the performance throughout the internship. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned as needed. Updating and creating general human resource policies and procedures listed below. Once these policies are created, approved and updated, the intern will help upload the policies and procedures into an integrated software platform.
- Employee recruitment, referral, posting and outreach methods.
- Onboarding standards and procedures, may include employee orientation.
- Standardized and updated job Descriptions for existing and new employee positions.
- Employee Development and training programs.
- Review current Performance Evaluation and Appraisal practices.
- Employee Feedback Surveys
- Compensation ranges, and standardized compensation increase policies.
- Off boarding / separation forms and feedback procedures.
- Comfortable with social media platforms and Canva
- Monthly employee newsletter and recognition programs.
- Add in implementation of new payroll application.
- Long term commitment potential to be considered for a Full-Time position
Working 20-30 hours a week to meet goals and job duties as posted above or additional assignments as they arise. Schedule is very flexible during school year. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Applicants must be a student in pursuit of a degree in Human Resources or a closely related field with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 - May 2026. Related work experience is a plus. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations None currently required, but encouraged if position leads to Full Time employment.
