Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our talented Human Resources (HR) team and has a new opportunity for HR Generalist. This position will support managers and supervisors, this scope is referred to as people leaders throughout this job description. This position plays a key role in cultivating collaborative partnerships with people leaders and employees to create a high-performance culture that supports the organization's objectives. The HRG serves as an HR subject matter expert providing operational, day-to-day support and thought partnership to people leaders and employees. Your work will help reinforce our core values, build a strong, inclusive culture, and foster employee engagement. This position is eligible to work hybrid (3 days per week onsite) in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Compensation $72,000 - $86,000 Exempt Grade 15
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you'll do
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leadership to develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Closely align with and support HR Business Partners in executing the organization's talent and performance management strategy by guiding people leaders and employees through culture and change management and effective people practices.
  • Serve as an extension of HR Business Partners by acting as a trusted advisor for people leaders and employees on talent management, policy interpretation, procedures, and best practices.
  • Function as the critical point of contact that supports people leaders' ability to proactively manage performance.
  • Partner with people leaders and employees to build effective action plans that positively influence engagement and recognition.
  • Analyze and interpret employee reports and identify key trends to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions to people leaders.
  • Work together with the HR team to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.
What you need
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Human Resources with strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines.
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of 6 years progressive experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proven critical thinking skills with a strong background in HR best practices and the ability to collaborate effectively with people leaders.
  • Strong business acumen, must understand an organization and its challenges to help address talent and performance needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate in an open and honest way.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual problem solving with an ability to identify patterns and issues, and guide others to solutions.
  • Skillful experience executing programs or projects with project management concepts.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable employment laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • High attention to detail, curiosity, initiative, and focus on driving solutions through successful execution.
  • Excellent self-management, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptable and agile; able to thrive within ambiguity.
  • Proficient technical background in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Bonus if you have
  • Certifications such as SHRM CP, PHR, or other equivalent Human Resources certifications preferred.
