Human Resources Assistant
Heidelberg University is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team. The Human Resources Assistant will provide administrative support to the Office of Human Resources, assisting with daily operations and processes. This is a part-time position with weekly hours ranging from 24-29 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the first point of contact for the HR office handling all incoming calls, emails, and office visitors.
- Primary facilitator in recruitment functions to include position announcements, online application system, applicant tracking, applicant follow-up and post-offer forms and processes.
- Performs all tasks relevant to the onboarding process for new employees through the completion of new hire paperwork, background checks, new hire orientation, systems set up and access.
- Processes HR administrative requests such as employment verifications and unemployment claims.
- Ensures compliance in office practices to hold the highest standard for confidentiality and privacy. This includes maintaining the HR file room to properly account for all required personnel records, payroll data files, FMLA claims, worker's compensation claims, etc.
- Serves as a secondary point of contact for employee benefits. Assists with benefits administration procedures including benefits billing and responding to benefit related inquiries.
- Assists with creating, planning, coordinating, and hosting employee appreciation and recognition events and activities.
- Provides payroll processing backup support and assistance as needed.
- Works collaboratively with all offices and departments across campus.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements
- Education and Professional Experience: High School Diploma required, Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.
- One to two years successful experience in human resources or business administration.
