Position Summary: We are seeking a proactive and resourceful HR Generalist / Recruiter to lead full-cycle recruitment efforts while also supporting key Human Resources functions across a dynamic, multi-site workforce. This hybrid role plays a crucial part in attracting top talent, maintaining compliance, and supporting team members throughout the employment lifecycle. The ideal candidate has experience in both talent acquisition and HR generalist responsibilities, including onboarding, team member relations, compliance, and benefits administration. A strong commitment to equal employment opportunity and familiarity with Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) workforce participation goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for exempt and non-exempt positions across departments and project sites
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, write job descriptions, and implement sourcing strategies
- Utilize LinkedIn, job boards, referrals, and community partnerships to attract qualified candidates
- Conduct screenings and interviews, coordinate interview logistics, and support hiring decisions
- Maintain accurate records in the applicant tracking system (ATS) in accordance with legal and company standards
- Represent the company at job fairs, career events, and DEI-focused recruiting initiatives
- Develop pipelines for underrepresented talent and collaborate with community organizations and schools
- Provide day-to-day support on team member relations and conflict resolution
- Support smooth and compliant onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes
- Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, and team member inquiries
- Track and report key HR metrics such as time-to-fill, turnover, etc.
- Contribute to the development and communication of HR policies and team member programs
- Support performance management and professional development initiatives
- Assist in the collection of compliance metrics as required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- 3+ years of experience in full cycle recruiting and/or HR generalist roles
- Strong understanding of HR practices, CT employment law, and regulatory compliance
- Hands-on experience with ATS and HRIS platforms
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
- Ability to travel up in Connecticut between Meriden, Norwalk, Middletown, and West Haven
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
