HR DirectorLocation: New York, NY (On-site)Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 per year + Annual Performance-Based BonusAbout the RoleMajor Real Estate Investment firm is seeking an experienced and strategic HR Director to lead human resources. Based in their NYC headquarters, this on-site role supports a team of approximately 200 employees and plays a key part in shaping the employee experience, culture, and growth strategy.Reporting to the Head of HR Business Partnering, the HR Director will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and oversee a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, talent strategy, organizational design, and compensation.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic HR advisor to leadership, aligning people strategies with business objectives.
  • Lead workforce planning and organizational design to support growth and innovation.
  • Use data and insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leaders to enhance performance, engagement, and team effectiveness.
Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Develop and implement programs that promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including internal communications and appreciation efforts.
  • Collect and analyze employee feedback to guide engagement strategies.
Employee Relations
  • Provide coaching and guidance on performance management, conflict resolution, and workplace issues.
  • Manage employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Conduct investigations and ensure legal compliance in partnership with Legal and HR teams.
  • Prepare documentation aligned with company policies, including performance plans and separation notices.
Talent Development & Performance
  • Support leadership development and coach managers on best practices in people management.
  • Partner with L&D to deliver impactful training and development programs.
  • Oversee the performance review process and promote a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to support hiring and workforce planning needs.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Partner with Compensation to manage the annual review and promotion cycles.
  • Assist in evaluating compensation structures through market analysis.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on benefits, leave, and related policies.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a generalist or business partner role.
  • Proven ability to align HR initiatives with business strategy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of discretion.
  • Confident decision-maker with excellent judgment and problem-solving ability.
  • Skilled in organizational planning, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Experience working with diverse employee populations in a dynamic environment.
  • Solid understanding of New York labor laws, including payroll, leave, and wage compliance.
