Overview
A rapidly expanding company in the food and agriculture technology sector is seeking a Bilingual (Japanese/English) HR Director / Lead People Business Partner to shape and drive people programs that support our corporate, R&D, and engineering teams. You will partner closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives while also managing day-to-day HR operations. You'll lead and coach a People Business Partner who supports our field operations workforce.
Base pay range
$165,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to design and implement people initiatives that strengthen employee experience and a high-performance culture.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on people strategies for corporate, commercial, and engineering functions (hourly and salaried teams across multiple sites).
- Coach and guide managers on employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and succession planning.
- Lead HR investigations, mitigate people-related risks, and ensure compliance with employment laws.
- Drive learning & development and inclusive workplace initiatives.
- Support recruiting efforts, particularly for bilingual roles.
- Manage visa/immigration processes and ensure consistency across HR policies and practices.
- Track and analyze people metrics (e.g., retention and engagement).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial & Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Fluent in Japanese and English.
- 12+ years in HR/People Operations (multi-location preferred), including 4+ years leading HR/People teams.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment law.
- Experience in operational environments (warehouse, retail, supply chain, or agriculture); facility launch experience is a plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt, prioritize, and drive results in a fast-paced, growing environment.
