Job Title: HR Assistant

Location: Houston, TX

Pay: $18-$20/ Hour

Summary:

This role is responsible for providing administrative support across various recruiting and onboarding functions within the HR department. Key responsibilities include job postings, candidate sourcing and screening, generating offer letters, running background checks, maintaining accurate employee records, and assisting with related HR projects and policy documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support hiring managers and field locations throughout the recruitment and onboarding cycle
  • Source and screen candidates using assessment tools to streamline hiring and improve retention
  • Coordinate with staffing partners to review and schedule candidates for corporate roles
  • Draft internal change documents and compensation letters, ensuring proper approvals are in place
  • Maintain the integrity of employee data within HR and recruitment systems
  • Handle background screenings and escalate findings to legal when necessary
  • Review job offers and postings for accuracy and policy compliance
  • Assist with the onboarding process during acquisitions, including preparing bulk new hire paperwork
  • Support I-9 compliance and eVerify submissions for new hires
  • Track and apply federal and state minimum wage updates throughout the year
  • Manage vendor invoices related to recruiting, job advertising, and screening services
  • Assist in writing and updating job descriptions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and company policies
  • Participate in departmental initiatives and special projects as needed
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of one year in administrative support, preferably in HR
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access preferred)
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Primarily performed in a professional office environment
  • May require sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 25 lbs), and other physical activities
  • Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers, etc.)
  • Occasional exposure to certain materials, with low to moderate risk
  • May involve occasional overtime

Travel Requirements:

  • Approximately 10% local or out-of-area travel, mostly within business hours
