Job Description :

LHH is hiring a Housing Specialist for a non-profit in New York! We are seeking a dedicated individual with experience supporting the homeless, for our client located in Manhattan. This is a contract position starting immediately - please apply today!

Position Summary,

Employment type: Contract / Contract to Hire

Location: 100% onsite in Manhattan

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9AM-5PM with 1 hour unpaid lunch

Hourly pay rate: $21/hour

Responsibilities,

  • Performing initial intake and assessment with clients to verify eligibility and needs

  • Grow and maintain relationships with affordable housing and city housing authorities

  • Educate and advise clients on qualifications for affordable housing or city housing, including regulations, background checks, and related requirements

  • Maintain and update database of available affordable housing for clients

  • Work with clients in a one-on-one or group setting, to gain and improve skills needed to secure and maintain permanent housing (life-skills training, how to pay utilities, additional community resources available, etc.)

  • Maintain documentation system regarding clients placed in housing, follow up notes, and any additional information

Qualifications,

  • Experience: 2 years of experience within social services, supporting low-income or homeless population

  • Communication: Strong communication skills (verbal and written), and compassionate persona

  • Technical: Basic to intermediate MS Office (Outlook, Word), ability to learn new documentation systems
