- Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of classrooms, offices, dormitories, restrooms, and common areas. Ensure proper sanitization and disinfection practices are followed, particularly in high-touch areas such as doorknobs, light switches, and desks.
- Waste Management: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables in designated areas. Ensure proper segregation and follow established waste management procedures.
- Floor Care: Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of floors, which may include mopping, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning. Identify and report any repairs or maintenance needs related to flooring.
- Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms regularly, restocking necessary supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. Monitor restroom facilities for cleanliness and address any issues promptly.
- Safety and Security: Report any safety hazards or security concerns to appropriate personnel. Maintain a safe and secure environment by following established procedures and guidelines.
- Event Support: Assist with setting up and arranging furniture for special events, meetings, and assemblies. Clean up after events and ensure the premises are restored to their original condition.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of janitorial supplies, notify the supervisor of low stock, and assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of cleaning materials, tools, and equipment.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other school staff and administrators to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. Communicate any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures related to janitorial and custodial services. Follow established protocols for handling hazardous materials and cleaning agents.
Position Details
- Full-time position with regular working hours, typically during the school's operational hours.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work for special events or emergencies.
- Physical stamina is necessary as the job involves standing, bending, lifting, and operating cleaning equipment.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- English and/or Spanish speaker.
- Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work..
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical effort.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Wages/Benefits This is a full time, non-exempt (hourly) position, which is eligible for Dunn School's full benefits package including: paid holidays, paid time-off, sick leave, medical, dental, retirement, life and AD&D, and tuition remission. The salary range for this position is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. Actual salary will be dependent upon experience.
