Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Research Scientist to continue an NIH-funded project to meet its proposed goals in understanding the mechanisms used by Pseudomonas aeruginosa to induce pathogenesis in clinical isolates obtained from patients with cystic fibrosis. Specifically, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting molecular genetics and genomic experiments pertaining to understanding the molecular mechanisms of quorum sensing activation in P. aeruginosa.
This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Centers mission in the New York State Department of Healths efforts to protect and promote the health of New Yorks citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health!
This position will last approximately 12 weeks.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in biomedical sciences or a related field and three years of experience; OR a PhD in biomedical sciences or another related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of experience of molecular genetics and working knowledge of cell-cell communication in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Experience authoring scientific manuscripts and a strong publication record.
Conditions of Employment
Hourly, grant funded position expected to last approximately 12 weeks. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will not be available.
Exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position. Therefore, the incumbent in this position may be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment.
