THE OPPORTUNITYNeighbors In Action (NIA) is a unique neighborhood institution that works to improve community problem solving, collaboration, and inter-group relations in Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights, Brooklyn. One program of Neighbors In Action, Save Our Streets Brooklyn (S.O.S.), is a community-based effort to end gun violence in the neighborhood. Make It Happen is a program designed to assist young men, ages 16 to 24 in overcoming challenges related to exposure to violence, poverty, and inadequate role models. Participants are given coaching on their goals and visions for their future. All participants are connected to resources to assist in job readiness and placement, education, housing, and other appropriate services.
NIA seeks a Hospital Responder to help create better access to on-site victim services and crisis intervention to those who have been directly impacted by violence. The role of the Hospital Responder will be to deliver crisis intervention services and follow-up to those who have experienced violent trauma. The Hospital Responder will support services at Kings County Hospital and on-site at the Neighbors In Action locations in Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy. This person will be available to travel within Brooklyn to provide services and provide home visits. Professional or personal experience with the criminal justice system is preferred.

Compensation: The compensation range for this position is $56,000 - $60,000 and is commensurate with experience. The Center for Justice Innovation offers an excellent benefits package including comprehensive healthcare with a national network, free basic dental coverage, vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and flexible spending accounts including commuter FSA.
