A Brief Overview: As a Home Health Intake Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the intake process for new or existing patients. Your responsibilities will include receiving information from referral sources or caregivers, completing insurance verifications, authorizations, and patient registrations. You will proactively communicate with ordering providers and various departments to ensure the delivery of clinically appropriate products for each patient. Additionally, you'll create and manage delivery tickets and sales order templates, ensuring accurate data entry into our software system while maintaining expertise in Durable Medical Equipment (DME) products used in specific therapies.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive patient information from referral sources via phone or fax and enter data into the system.
  • Conduct insurance verification and document eligibility checks for each patient.
  • Obtain and record prior authorizations in a timely manner.
  • Notify involved parties of insurance coverage levels or any limitations.
  • Register new patients with complete and accurate information, verifying details during follow-up communications.
  • Review and complete physician orders, generating sales orders and ensuring product fulfillment.
  • Address incomplete orders by contacting clinical departments for necessary information.
  • Monitor authorization tracking to obtain required authorizations at the start of service and reassess needs at the end.
  • Prepare ongoing supply orders by reviewing patient details, updating insurance when necessary, and documenting all changes.
  • Regularly update ICD-10 codes, demographics, and insurance information.

Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Associate's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer service setting, including experience with insurance or revenue cycle processes.
  • Experience with various medical insurance plans and types of benefit coverage preferred.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPC coding preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in using computers, fax machines, and copiers.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently complete assigned duties.
