• Completion of Home Health Aide Training Program

Preferred Experience

• 1 year of experience as a CNA/HHA

Required Certification/Registration

• Current CA Home Health Aide Certification
• Current CPR Certification
• Valid CA Driver's license
• Current automobile insurance.

• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
• Bathes clients who are confined to bed or ambulatory per assignment sheet/care plan developed by registered nurse.
• Assists in the care of mouth, teeth, hair, nails and skin, giving special attention to pressure points.
• Assists clients with use of bathroom and/or bedpan/urinal/bedside commode.
• Helps retrain clients in self-help skills and ambulation per plan of care when appropriate.
• Prepares light meals and provides light cleaning of the client's environment.

7 Interacts in an emotionally supportive way with patient, families and other caregivers.

• Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to the cultural and age related needs of all patients, particularly the geriatric and dying patients.
• Reports changes in patient condition to nurse.
