Locomotive Fuel & Service Key ResponsibilitiesSafely fuel locomotives with red-dyed diesel, following precise procedures.
Load, transport, and transfer diesel to storage tanks on an on-call basis.
Complete accurate diesel accounting paperwork and perform pre/post-shift vehicle and equipment inspections.
Respond promptly to customer dispatches, ensuring 24/7/365 availability.
Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times and report any diesel spills or incidents immediately.
Assist with light maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and equipment.
Maintain a clean and organized company-provided office space and storage areas.
Ensure all training, licenses, and certifications are kept current.
Act as a reliable, positive, and safety-focused team member with proper attendance and communication.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager or Site Leader.
Responsibilities / Job Duties:
· First and foremost, work safely at all times without incident. You are empowered to STOP work at any time due to unsafe conditions.
· Follow step by step procedures when loading and unloading sand, water, lube oil, and waste to service trains.
· Fully loaded and readily available, while on duty, to answer customer dispatches and respond in a timely manner.
· Provides complete and accurate fuel accounting paperwork in the prescribed manner within established timelines.
· Provides complete and accurate service paperwork in the prescribed manner within established timelines.
· Wears all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
· Conducts pre and post shift vehicle and equipment inspections.
· Use worker protection when required and follows all customer safety rules and regulations.
· Controls, contains and reports any spill or incident (operational and/or safety related) immediately to management.
· Assists with light maintenance and upkeep of the vehicles and equipment.
· Assists with cleanliness and organization of company provided office space, storage, etc.
· Ensure all training is current and kept up to date.
· Is a reliable, safe, and positive team member that demonstrates their commitment with proper attendance, verbal or written communication, and conduct.
· Other duties as assigned by Regional Manager or Site Leader.
Requirements/QualificationsValid Class A CDL with hazmat (H) and tanker (N) endorsements (or combined X endorsement). No Automatic Restriction.
Ability to pass company, customer, and government background checks.
Moderate computer skills and ability to read, write, and understand English.
Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays (rotating schedules).
Physical ability to:
Consistently bend, stoop, kneel, and climb on/off elevated surfaces.
Walk long distances on paved, unmaintained, or uneven surfaces.
Climb in/out of a truck cab multiple times per shift and use ladders/steps 10+ times daily.
Work outside in adverse weather conditions.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Willingness to handle liquid non-hazardous and dry bulk materials.
Home Daily: Be home every night with 12-hour day shifts (5 AM–5 PM), unlike long-haul hazmat jobs, for better work-life balance.
Consistent Pay: Earn $75,670+ annually with $1,610 weekly for 60-hour workweeks (48 hours every third week), including 20 hours of overtime at time and a half, paid weekly—no feast-or-famine cycles.
