Highway & Roads Market Sector DirectorPrimary ResponsibilitiesMarket Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within HDR's matrix management structure. The Highway & Roads (H&R) sector is HDR's largest, representing nearly $1B in annual revenue globally. It includes clients that own and operate highways, toll roads, and bridge structures. HDR offers services in bridge and highway design, traffic engineering, transportation planning, and tolling services.
This role requires an understanding of H&R clients, their funding, revenue streams, and governmental structures. The responsibilities are divided into:
MSDs set the vision for HDR's strategy to expand and serve clients in this sector, support growth initiatives, develop staff, and coordinate with leadership across regions and business groups. They maintain regular communication with leadership to implement strategic plans, support business development, and grow HDR's presence domestically and internationally.
The role involves engaging with government agencies, expanding HDR's contractual relationships outside the US, and leading market sector development efforts, including client management, project leadership, and industry association participation.
Responsibilities include:Preferred: 20+ years in highway/bridge planning or engineering, PE license, leadership in industry associations.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, 12+ years of industry experience including leadership, strong communication, client management, and business skills. A commitment to HDR's culture is essential.
