Course content includes teaching skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help students prepare to earn the High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Instructor will assist students in learning specified subject matter using curriculum provided by the College. Students vary in skill levels, cultural backgrounds, and life experiencesSchedule: 2 days/week, 8 AM until 3 PM (with 1-hr lunch) Rate: $19 per hour (Wage Updated 6/12/2025) Primary Duties
- Delivers engaging instructional activities and lessons for adult learners
- Discusses and helps set appropriate goals with each student (academic, employment, community)
- Keeps accurate records
- Maintains positive, professional relationships and communication with students as well as college and prison staff
- Communicates effectively with others in person, through email, and by telephone
- Participates in staff development sessions, trainings, and other college functions as appropriate
- No outside class duties required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
- Teaching experience or relevant human service/case management work preferred
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Considerable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive materials
