If you're a high school student enrolled in your school's Education and Training program (Ready Set Teach), this is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in youth development, build leadership skills, and be a positive mentor for younger students. Position: Afterschool Group Leader Schedule: Monday-Friday | 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Location: Various YMCA Afterschool sites in Fort Worth ISD, WSISD, and surrounding districts Age Requirement: Must be at least 17 years old Education: Currently enrolled in or completed the Education and Training program (must appear on transcript) What You'll Do:
- Create a fun, safe, and bully-free environment for school-aged children
- Lead games, group activities, and support daily schedules planned by the site team
- Build relationships with students and be a positive role model
- Support children during recreational, enrichment, and homework time
- Communicate and collaborate with teammates and Site Director
What We're Looking For:
- A passion for working with kids and helping others
- Energetic, responsible, patient, and ready to learn
- Comfortable leading group activities and open to coaching and supervision
- Willingness to attend trainings and staff meetings
- Able to work independently and with a team
- Physical ability to lift 40 lbs and walk short distances while supervising children
- Visual and auditory awareness to monitor children at all times
Qualifications & Training:
- Completion of an 8-hour pre-service orientation (or 6 months' experience in a licensed childcare center)
- Will complete required trainings within 30 days: First Aid, CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, and Sexual Harassment
- Must assist in emergency drills and follow all safety procedures
- Report any incidents or concerns to Site Director per YMCA guidelines
