SummaryThe Heavy Equipment Operator - Organics processes green waste and other organic material by using loaders and various sorting, grinding, and screening equipment throughout the day to produce high quality compost and mulch.Job DescriptionEssential Job Functions:Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all timesPerform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated daily Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfullyPerform material grading and properly process material to create final productImmediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervisionWork overtime as neededPerforms other duties as needed by direct supervision.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma and/or GED1 year of operating heavy equipmentMust be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipmentEffective verbal and written communication skillsExceptional organizational skillsAbility to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodationsPreferred Qualifications:Bilingual - English/Spanish.Class A or B commercial driver's licenseAcceptable driving recordPhysical/Environmental Demands:Physical:Standing, walking, sitting, seeing, hearing, touching, stooping, lifting, & smelling continuously.Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously.Eye/hand coordination, visual depth perception, handling, & wrist motion continuously.Environmental:Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, windy conditions & noise continuously.Exposure to flying debris and sharp objects occasionally.Works outside only.
