This position is responsible for the continuous monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of system interfaces, working closely with internal teams, external partners, and third-party vendors throughout all project phases, including planned upgrades. The role also contributes to project management efforts, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met, while applying industry best practices and established procedures to maintain a secure, reliable, and high-performing healthcare IT environment. Role and Responsibilities: Interface Management and Optimization
- Monitor, maintain, and continuously optimize healthcare system interfaces to ensure accurate, timely, and secure bi-directional data exchange
- Proactively identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance throughput and reduce latency
- Establish and maintain interface monitoring dashboards with real-time alerts for system anomalies
Data Integration and Quality Assurance
- Ensure data exchanged between systems is properly formatted, validated, translated, and mapped to maintain accuracy and clinical meaning across all platforms
- Implement data quality checks and validation rules to prevent corrupt or incomplete data transmission
- Design and maintain complex data transformation logic for disparate system architectures
System Lifecycle Support
- Lead interface components of planned system upgrades, migrations, and enhancements while minimizing downtime and service disruption
- Develop comprehensive rollback plans and contingency procedures for critical system changes
- Coordinate interface testing during system maintenance windows and planned outages
Advanced Troubleshooting
- Diagnose complex interface issues using advanced monitoring tools, log analysis, and system tracing capabilities
- Conduct thorough root cause analysis of system failures and implement both immediate fixes and long-term preventive measures
- Maintain detailed incident response procedures and escalation protocols
24/7 Operational Support
- Provide responsive after-hours on-call support to diagnose and resolve critical system issues affecting patient care operations
- Execute emergency response procedures for interface failures impacting clinical workflows
- Coordinate with vendor support teams during critical incidents requiring immediate resolution
Collaboration and Empowerment
- Collaborate with state agencies, regulatory bodies, business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and third-party vendors throughout all phases of complex interface projects
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions with clinical end-users to ensure technical solutions meet operational needs
- Serve as technical liaison between business units and development teams
Requirements and Documentation Management
- Gather, analyze, and document comprehensive technical and functional requirements, defining clear project scope, objectives, and success criteria
- Create and maintain detailed interface specifications, data mapping documents, and system architecture diagrams
- Develop user-friendly documentation for operational procedures and troubleshooting guides
Change Management Excellence
- Follow and enhance established change management processes for all break/fix activities, system modifications, and new implementations
- Maintain detailed change logs and configuration management documentation
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA, HITECH, state privacy regulations, and organizational security policies for all integration activities
- Conduct regular assessments of interface connections and data transmission methods
- Implement and maintain audit trails for all data exchanges and system modifications
Standards Implementation
- Stay current with evolving healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 v2.x, HL7 FHIR, X12 EDI) and proactively incorporate them into interface solutions
Training and Mentorship
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for internal staff on interface technologies and operational procedures
Continuous Improvement
- Incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) to envision and drive innovation
- Apply industry best practices and emerging technologies to enhance system reliability, performance, and interoperability
- Conduct regular system performance reviews and recommend optimization strategies
- Research and evaluate new integration platforms and tools for potential organizational benefit

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare software integration using HL7, FHIR, JSON, XML, and related interoperability protocols or toolsets
- Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving interface and system integration issues in live healthcare environments, with a focus on minimizing downtime, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining compliance with privacy and security regulations
- Hands-on experience with healthcare interface engines such as Mirth Connect/NextGen Connect, Rhapsody, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with Managed File Transfer tools like Progress MOVEit Automation or equivalent solutions
- Proficiency in writing and maintaining scripts using Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages
- Hands-on experience with API's enabling integration and sharing of healthcare data across disparate applications and systems.
- Skilled in working with relational databases, including writing SQL queries, stored procedures, SSIS packages, and generating reports.
- Knowledge of working with Microsoft Azure environments
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, Microsoft 365 (O365), and related administrative tools such as Remote Desktop, Computer Management, and Event Viewer
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage providers, external partners, management, and end users
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Excellent time management and organizational skills. High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and execution

Education/Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- At least 3 years of experience in healthcare IT, including system integration and interoperability standards
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with healthcare data exchange and interchanges
- Solid understanding of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, and X12
- Proven ability to perform data mapping, transformation, and validation across disparate systems
- Familiarity with secure data exchange protocols (e.g., VPN, SFTP, HTTPS) and regulatory compliance frameworks including HIPAA and HITECH
