Role Overview:

As a vital part of our Care Teams, Healthcare Assistants play an essential role in patient engagement and care. Success in this position requires flexibility, energy, meticulous attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include building relationships with Oak Street Health members and assisting in the health assessment of patients through routine diagnostic tests during appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure smooth patient flow by efficiently rooming patients and assisting providers to adhere to their schedules.
  • Create an exceptional patient experience, preparing patients for their provider visits.
  • Obtain vital signs, assess chief complaints, and review medications.
  • Conduct patient screenings in accordance with protocols.
  • Order supplies and ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready.
  • Perform routine quality control checks, including infection control and checking for expired medications.
  • Keep exam rooms clean, safe, and prepared for appointments.
  • Provide telephonic support to patients under RN or provider direction.
  • Administer vaccinations and perform designated procedures as per RN or provider guidance.
  • Schedule diagnostic testing and assist with durable medical equipment applications.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care and clinic operations.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Medical Assistant role.
  • CPR Certification is mandatory.
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration required; 5+ years of applicable experience may substitute this requirement.
  • EMR experience and proficiency are required.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with geriatric patients; Phlebotomy Technician Certification.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, accountability, and a positive, flexible approach.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other relevant languages preferred.
  • Must have US work authorization.
