Healthy Start Health Educator/ Data Analyst Job Description

The Healthy Start Health Educator/Data Analyst plays a crucial role in improving public health outcomes by empowering individuals and communities with knowledge and tools to lead healthier lives. They also help organizations understand and utilize data to drive strategic decisions, contributing to improved processes and increased efficiency. The goals of the Healthy Start program are to:

  • Continue reducing infant mortality rates in the United States.
  • Decrease disparities in infant mortality and poor perinatal health outcomes in high-rate areas.
  • They establish trusting and respectful relationships with families while maintaining boundaries and providing supportive services.

    Minimum Requirements
    • Education: An Associate's degree in human services, social work, or a closely related field; or graduation from high school or equivalent with two years of experience in a human services or health services agency.
    • Knowledge of infant and child development, parent-child relationships, maternal-infant health, psycho-social dynamics, recognition of indicators of child abuse and neglect, and community resources. Ability to follow and implement policies and procedures.
    • Prior Experience: Several years of experience working with or providing services to children and families.
    • Communication Skills: Ability to understand and follow detailed instructions, interpret various forms of instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Oral and Written Skills: Ability to write simple correspondence and activity narratives, and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings. Ability to interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
    • Foreign Language Ability: Required to converse with participants in languages other than English (e.g., French, Spanish).
    • Personal Traits: Highly motivated, culturally/ethnically aware, and sincerely interested in maternal/child and family health. Experience working with expecting parents and children (birth to 2 years), with home visiting experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with computer programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, typing skills, and ability to learn data entry systems.
    • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
    • Willing to obtain CLC certification.
