Work hours may be determined by manager and employee. WORK STATUS: Classified, Hourly Non-Exempt REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Education POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall direction and coordination of health services for children and families in the Early Childhood program. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers and implements the overall health component of Head Start while operating under the supervision of the Sheridan School District nurse.
- Coordinates with community resources in order to provide health services and preventive health care for families in need.
- Maintains various records, including child health records, immunization histories, state and federal required records and reports.
- Schedules and coordinates safety drills with appropriate parties.
- Conducts regular safety checks throughout the year.
- Performs vision and hearing screenings; makes appropriate referrals.
- Administers first aid in emergency and other situations.
- Ensures that each child enrolled receives a physical and dental examination, including follow-up treatment.
- Maintains appropriate health services advisory committee and keeps accurate minutes.
- Establishes and maintains written procedures for the administration, handling and storage of medications.
- Integrates health and dental education for children, families and staff in the Head Start program.
- Communicates with parents and families regarding health issues and chronic health problems.
- Collects and maintains USDA meal count sheets for the early childhood center.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES: None POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Required
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- One to three years' experience
Preferred
- Background and training in Health Services and Health Education
- Experience in an educational environment, knowledge of state immunization laws, and early childhood physical and dental requirements.
- Computer skills in Excel and data collection systems
- Bilingual Spanish/English desirable.
CONTINUING EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Formal training; CPR, First Aid, medication certified
- Special needs training to include medical devices

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment. CLEARANCES: Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check with National Sex Offender Registry, State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Must also submit receipt of a Physical completed within one year of date of hire. SALARY: Salary based upon ECC teacher schedule posted on ssd2.org and previous experinec.e The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the last working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday. BENEFITS: Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week in the 2025/20206 school year are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 11% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA . The District contributes 21.5%.
