ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to support and engage with management and employees in reducing risk exposure and fostering a safer workplace. The successful candidate will help implement the Amrize Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) and promote health and safety competencies across the organization. You will provide day-to-day guidance to management, staff, and supervisors to cultivate a robust health and safety culture.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Offer H&S guidance and support in alignment with the Amrize Health & Safety Strategy, focusing on the management of health and safety at site locations.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to define and prioritize actions for implementing the long-term H&S strategy and use specialized knowledge to drive behavioral changes, aiming for a reduction in incidents and establishing a reference in the industry.
  • Work closely with the H&S team to communicate and put into action the H&S strategy, while providing counsel on critical topics to grow expertise within the organization.
  • Create relevant dashboards to monitor safety momentum and performance at assigned sites, supporting the gathering and analysis of pertinent KPIs.
  • Assist supervisors and managers with incident investigations and work with HR to promote optimal working conditions and safe environments.
  • Participate in scheduled safety audits and assessments across various sites.
  • Collaborate with specialists to ensure compliance with regulations related to exposure and monitoring of health and safety threats such as vibrations, noise, and chemical agents.
  • Support site management during compliance inspections and investigations, providing expertise to address regulatory issues effectively.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to enhanced communication and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies. Advocate for a culture of safety and exemplify these values in all actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience (3 years). Preferred Field of Study: Engineering, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, HSE. Required Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a relevant role; experience with MSHA and OSHA compliance preferred; familiarity with DOT; experience with management systems and continuous improvement cycles such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS 18001 is also preferred; experience in developing and implementing SOPs.

Required: Valid driver's license. Required Training/Certifications: Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Required Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and Google software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, G-Drive); knowledge of document management software is a plus.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Additional Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of H&S principles and practices, policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Strong understanding of federal/state legislation (MSHA/WSIA/OHSA). Ability to provide honest, constructive feedback to management.
  • Commitment to safety standards, usage of PPE, and adherence to protocols. Candidates required to wear respirators must be clean-shaven to ensure proper sealing for fit-testing.
