The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is one of the largest organizations of its kind committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City. Collaborating with other public agencies and not-for-profit partners, DHS works to prevent homelessness before it occurs, reduce street homelessness and assist New Yorkers to transition from shelter into appropriate permanent housing. DHS is responsible for management of over 200 facilities, which mainly are individual and family shelters used as overnight residences for over 38,000 adults and children. DHS's portfolio covers approximately 4M square feet. The selected candidate will be working in the Health and Safety office and be responsible for coordinating, supporting and advising on all health and safety matters affecting DHS staff. The Health and Safety Analyst will monitor standards, process and communications in regards to health and safety and ensure federal, state and local regulations within the workplace are adhered. Qualifications1. A master's degree from an accredited college in business or public administration, economics, labor or industrial relations, statistics, industrial psychology or a closely related social science field and one year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in labor research and analysis, employee benefit design and benefit program evaluation, compensation analysis, labor economics, economic planning, or a related area; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of professional experience as described in 1 above; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However, all candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.
