About the Role

The Company is in search of a Head of Underwriting for its E&S P&C portfolio, with a primary focus on binding authority business. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding underwriting strategies and procedures at the portfolio level, driving profitable growth, and maintaining strong carrier relationships. This strategic and data-driven role involves close collaboration with distribution, product, engineering, and data teams to monitor performance, refine underwriting rules, and optimize the use of digital tools and models. The Head of Underwriting will also play a key role in enhancing carrier partnerships and expanding appetite through underwriting innovation. Applicants must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in E&S commercial underwriting, particularly in binding authority or program business, and a deep understanding of small to mid-market GL, property, and excess casualty. The role requires a proven track record in digital or algorithmic underwriting models, as well as the ability to set underwriting procedures, ensure their consistent application, and champion new product launches. Key qualifications include the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to implement and evolve underwriting strategies, monitor data and performance trends to identify risks and opportunities, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance underwriting models and platform functionality.
