About the Role

A prominent listed financial institution is seeking an exceptional Head of Risk Policy to join as a senior line 2 (second line of defence) professional. This is a critical appointment with significant succession potential, offering the opportunity to shape risk policy frameworks at a leading market participants.

This front-facing policy role will engage directly with regulators, industry bodies, and senior stakeholders while driving compliance, governance, and policy setting across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead risk policy development and implementation across market risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk domains
  • Engage proactively with global regulators, industry associations, and external stakeholders
  • Drive policy frameworks alignment with Basel, PFMI, and international regulatory requirements
  • Challenge existing frameworks and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage the balance between commercial innovation and risk appetite
  • Serve as board and regulator liaison on risk policy matters
  • Collaborate effectively with international colleagues and teams
Essential Requirements

Financial Risk Expertise

  • Strong financial risk background from banking, asset management, or major financial institutions
  • Regional or global exposure working across international markets
  • Deep understanding of market risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk
  • Solid knowledge of Basel frameworks, PFMI, margin requirements, leverage ratios
  • Derivatives expertise is an absolute plus
  • Experience with capital requirements and regulatory frameworks

Professional Background

  • Institutional-grade experience from large, complex global financial institutions
  • Experience with global financial regulatory policy frameworks
  • Financial Services industry regulatory affairs experience highly desirable
  • Ideally transitioned from front-line product/business roles to risk policy
  • Comfortable dealing with global regulators and industry groups

Key Attributes

  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills with internal and external parties
  • Confident communicator able to influence and challenge constructively
  • Comfortable in front-facing roles with boards and regulators
  • Ability to ask probing questions and challenge status quo
