Job Description

About this job:

PartnerRe is investing to further expand its presence in the US life market. This position is responsible for the research and development of mortality risk assessment where you will have the opportunity to partner with pricing actuaries, data scientists, and underwriters to help drive research in the risk selection process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and approval of benchmark assumptions and methodology for mortality risks.
  • Lead the mortality analysis and impact of medical underwriting requirements by collaborating with the US pricing actuaries and medical underwritirs to keep abreast of current industry trends.
  • Collaborate with the global data science team by providing subject matter expertise, direction, and guidance for the US market on research projects.
  • Lead data acquisition strategy efforts to further the internal inventory available for relevant research while complying with internal policies on data and IT requirements.
  • Collaborate with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) by providing actuarial analysis on medical underwriting research projects that impact mortality and incorporate the thought process into the benchmark assumptions for pricing.
  • Support the US pricing team by assiting with expereince analysis as needed.
  • Support PRE's recognition as a thought leader through articles, webinars, and publications.
  • Provide technical insight and support to internal and external business partners.
Qualifications

Technical Skills / Competencies:

  • You are a technically solid individual with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of predictive modelling concepts and machine-learning approaches
  • Up to date with current trends in Life Underwriting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced Excel.
  • Hands-on experience of other programs such as R and SQL is preferred.

  • You have proven track record of promoting teamwork and accountability, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
  • This role will suit a self-starter who enjoys working in an open, collaborative environment with a diverse team of financial professionals.
  • Strong initiative, collaboration and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills; experience with presenting at industry conferences/meetings is a plus

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in U.S. life insurance/reinsurance

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or a related discipline

Professional Qualifications or Designations:

  • Member of American Academy of Actuaries and/or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
