Head of Machine Learning (Senior Director – VP level)

Location: East Coast US (hybrid/flexible)

Company: Stealth Biotech | AI Drug Discovery | Single-Cell Omics

Skills Alliance are partnered with a leading life sciences VC firm that's building a portfolio of AI-native drug discovery companies.

Their newest venture is developing a single-cell foundation model to map disease biology, identify novel targets, and accelerate therapeutic discovery. As Head of ML you'd have the chance to work with the founders to shape the ML vision from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Define the ML strategy and build the computational platform
• Develop foundation & generative models for single-cell and multi-omics integration
• Hire and lead a cross-functional ML team
• Work closely with the growing biology team in a lab-in-the-loop design cycle

Ideal background:

• PhD or equivalent in ML, computational biology, or related field
• Experience with single-cell or multi-omics data & foundation models (transformers, diffusion, GNNs)
• Proven team-building and leadership experience in biotech or pharma
