Head of Intellectual Property - Manifold Bio : Job Details

Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach. Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening in vivo from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. Position

We are seeking a Head of Intellectual Property to lead all aspects of our IP strategy and execution. This individual will partner closely with R&D, business development, and executive leadership to build a robust global IP portfolio that secures our platform technologies and therapeutic pipeline while positioning the company for long-term success.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement a comprehensive global IP strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Advise senior leadership on IP risks, opportunities, and competitive positioning.
• Direct all patent drafting, filing, prosecution, and portfolio management activities.
• Collaborate with inventors and external counsel to generate and protect high-value IP.
• Build a balanced portfolio covering platforms, therapeutic programs, and proprietary methods.
• Partner with R&D teams to identify inventions early and secure protection.
• Train scientific staff on IP awareness and best practices.
• Support business development with IP due diligence for partnerships, licensing, and M&A.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and monitor third-party IP.
• Provide competitive IP landscaping to guide research and strategy.
• Oversee IP enforcement, opposition, and litigation as needed.

Requirements

• JD, PhD, or advanced degree in life sciences, biotechnology, or related field.
• 10+ years of IP experience, with significant time in biotech/biopharma.
• Demonstrated expertise in patent law, prosecution, and global IP landscapes.
• Proven track record of building and managing IP portfolios that support business growth.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain IP strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior leadership experience in-house at a biotech or biopharma company strongly preferred.
