The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Behind every Girl Scout and volunteer is a team of local staff ready to help them earn that next badge, embark on a camping adventure, or organize an impactful service project. We are Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ) serving girls in grades K-12 in Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and northern Warren counties. We bring the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to 19,000 girls and 10,200 adult members. GSNNJ is excited for the upcoming opening of its' very own DreamLab. The DreamLab is designed to become a bold, imaginative hub for sisterhood — a space where ideas ignite, friendships flourish, and limitless possibilities come to life. This dynamic new experience center will offer Girl Scouts a whole new and meaningful way to explore our four pillars — STEM, Life Skills, Entrepreneurship, and Outdoors. We are looking for our Head Of DreamLab operations to make this dream come to life.

The Head of Girl Scout DreamLab Operations will direct the day-to-day operations of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey (GSNNJ's) DreamLab in Paramus, NJ. Reporting to the President/CEO and working closely with the VP/Chief Operating Officer, this role is responsible for growing membership and community engagement as well as increasing space utilization and awareness of the DreamLab and Girl Scout programs. This role will schedule, oversee day-to-day activities of staff, and collaborate with multiple teams within GSNNJ to support their work at DreamLab.

Please note: Flexible scheduling is required, including the ability to open, close and work weekends with variable days off based on scheduling needs.

Responsibilities include:

Community Leadership

  • Establish relationships with local community partners to deepen GSNNJ's presence through the DreamLab in the local community. Cultivating new and existing relationships for integrating GSNNJ DeamLab programming and space, with the needs of members, local businesses, social service agencies and local community groups.
  • In collaboration with Membership and Program teams, seeking and coordinating programs with external partners, like schools, to support GSNNJ'S operations.
  • Partnering with the Senior Leadership Team at GSNNJ to share learnings on the needs of the community to better shape programming at the DreamLab.

Program Delivery

  • Coordinate and oversee execution of DreamLab programs, drop-in program offerings, workshops, partner programs, and large-scale community-facing opportunities.
  • Create program curriculum, project timelines, run of shows, and checklists.
  • Support the delivery of programs and events hosted by program partners, volunteers, or other staff teams within the DreamLab.
  • Maintain a calendar of daily programmatic opportunities for DreamLab visitors.
  • Identify and address gaps in DreamLab program calendar
  • Adapt current programs, engage current and prospective members and volunteers.
  • Generate program engagement and facility utilization reports.
  • Conduct and report results from pre- and post-program surveys.
  • Train and coach DreamLab staff and volunteers on program offerings and facilitation strategies.
  • Communicate with GSNNJ's program and membership teams, community partners, and stakeholders to determine local programmatic needs specific to GSNNJ's membership.

Membership Support

  • Promote Girl Scouting and participation in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE)
  • Collaborate with local membership staff to develop, execute, and implement effective member engagement strategies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Girl Scout program, pathways, activities, and member registration processes.
  • Cultivate and encourage positive relationships between diverse racial, ethnic, and social groups in the Council as a whole, between employees and volunteers, and with community leaders, organizations, and businesses.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.

Facility Management

  • Work with DreamLab team to ensure facilities are prepared for guests.
  • Managing scheduling, setup, and teardown of spaces for events and programs.
  • Assist authorized groups and their leaders in the use and care of the facility, send confirmations, and communicate with groups prior to arrival.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with property vendors.
  • Respond to emergencies, ensure compliance with security protocols, and report potential hazards.

Staff Supervision

  • Build and train the DeamLab team in line with the business goals and community needs.
  • Oversee DreamLab staff in providing excellent customer service and hospitality to all visitors.
  • Oversee management of daily activities in signing up members, scheduling reservations, delivering, and hosting programs, managing the facility, and supporting visitor use of the various features of the DreamLab.
  • Schedule staff to ensure appropriate and adequate coverage during operating hours of DreamLab.
  • Supervise the DreamLab team in opening and closing the facility, completing administrative tasks, managing facility usage, maintaining equipment and technology, and ensuring a safe, clean, and secure space.
  • Work with departmental leaders, leadership, and key staff members to identify programming and fulfill staffing needs.

Administration and other duties:

  • Support DreamLab survey administration, analysis, and change implementation based on feedback.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities, meet administration deadlines, and respond to emails and phone calls in a timely and detail-oriented manner.
  • Each staff member is expected to take an active role in all areas of operations, especially by being alert to opportunities to identify and engage potential volunteers, girl members, donors, vendors, collaborators, etc. and providing contact information to the appropriate staff person.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Primary cross-functional responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate monthly & as needed cross-department DreamLab Team meetings to address DreamLab operations, needs and planning.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications department to promote DreamLab programs and reservation opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Program and Membership teams to drive active engagement of our members through opportunities at the DreamLab.
  • Support Product Program and Retail in facilitating sales of products at seasonal community fairs.
  • Comply with GSNNJ policies and operational guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay range for this role is set at $90,000-$100,000 annually.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and/or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least 10 years of non profit leadership experience, related customer-facing work experience (e.g., retail, hospitality, event management, program logistics and program planning, or other relevant customer- facing roles).
  • 8 years of leadership and supervisory experience required.
  • Prior experience working with youth and community partners is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in project management of cross-functional, regional, and/or statewide environments. Prior experience with launching complex projects ground up.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated personal and professional commitment to pluralism,with a focus on accessibility, inclusion, and participant engagement.
  • Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment and annually thereafter.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience designing and delivering educational or enrichment programs for youth in K–12 settings, after-school programs, camps, or community organizations.
  • Demonstrated success increating dynamic program experiences that engage youth, families, and adult participants across cultural, artistic, or educational settings.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute events, workshops, and special programs from concept to completion, including managing vendors, budgets, volunteers, and community partnerships.
  • Background in working with community organizations, schools, or cultural institutions to co-createprogramming that serves both youth and adult audiences.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent skills in planning and leading cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to be a team player, people leader and community leader.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, ability to think strategically and lead change
  • Must have strong business acumen and own business results for DreamLab.
  • Analytical thinker and ability to solve problems by providing practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, multitask, and prioritize, with strong attention to detail.
  • Basic common knowledge of janitorial and housekeeping practices.
  • Collaborative Leadership with strong motivational and organizational skills
  • Able to work with and retain sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Knowledge of (or ability/willingness to learn) Counter Point POS, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Salesforce.
