Head of Engineering - Ursus : Job Details

POSITION SUMMARY:

You'll help design and build the systems that ingest fragmented financial data, reconcile it, and expose it through reliable, testable interfaces. You'll work across the stack to solve complex, data-heavy problems with high accuracy requirements and real-world impact. This role blends hands-on technical execution with technical leadership and mentorship as we scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Scalable services to ingest and standardize data from documents, ERPs, and portals
• Internal APIs and interfaces that power reconciliation, reporting, and automation
• Infrastructure optimized for observability, reliability, and deployment simplicity
• Patterns for integrating machine learning and generative AI features into production systems
• A technical foundation that scales with customer usage and product complexity

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 8-10 years of experience working in high-quality engineering environments; startup experience is a plus.
• Thrives in fast-changing, ambiguous environments - excited to take ownership, figure things out and build from zero with speed and autonomy.
• Track record of building reliable, production-grade systems that handle real-world data (structured and unstructured)
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar languages; comfort with AWS/GCP
• Familiarity with transactional systems, billing tools, or reconciliation workflows
• High ownership mindset, strong communication skills, and a bias for action
• Interest in helping recruit and mentor future engineers as the team grows
• Bonus: Experience working on document parsing, financial systems, or workflow optimization
