This range is provided by Sano Genetics. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$130,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

Mission; what we do

  • accelerating the world's transition to personalised medicine

Purpose; why we do it

  • to speed up development of life-saving treatments for those with limited options

Vision; where we're going

  • become the world's best source of patient-in-the-loop genomic and health data for precision medicine development

As our Head of Clinical Recruitment & Engagement, you'll lead patient recruitment strategy across multiple studies, helping shape how we connect the right patients to the right trials, faster and more inclusively than ever before.

This is a unique opportunity to design and own a scalable, tech-enabled recruitment model in a fast-moving environment, with immediate impact on our growth and success ahead of Series B. You'll work cross-functionally from day one, drive platform improvements, build high-trust relationships across the ecosystem - and define what best-in-class recruitment looks like at Sano.

Headlines:

  • Role - Head of Clinical Recruitment & Engagement
  • Salary - $130,000 - 170,000
  • Location - This is a remote US role, but please note that we're only able to hire in the following US states: Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas

What you'll be doing:

  • Owning the recruitment vision and roadmap, aligning it with company priorities and delivery milestones.
  • Managing and coaching a cross-functional team across recruitment, navigation, and patient experience.
  • Partnering with Clinical Ops, Product, and Commercial teams to ensure recruitment is embedded across study design and execution.
  • Delivering patient recruitment strategies across multiple studies, from feasibility through to enrolment.
  • Tailoring approaches to study protocol, indication complexity, and patient population needs.
  • Leading digital and partner-driven campaigns to increase reach, trust, and engagement.
  • Building scalable processes to manage high-volume recruitment across concurrent programs.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with sites, vendors, and advocacy groups.
  • Collaborating with Product to inform feature development and embed recruitment insights.
  • Defining and iterating on KPIs to drive performance, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

This job is for you if you have:

  • Deep knowledge of clinical trial operations, including protocol design, recruitment bottlenecks, and execution across Phases I–IV.
  • Experience managing and coaching a high-performing team, with a focus on development, accountability, and impact.
  • Hands-on experience in rare disease, pediatric, or underserved population trials, with an understanding of their unique challenges.
  • Working knowledge of GCP, GDPR, and ethical recruitment standards, including managing IRB/REC submissions for study materials.
  • A track record of delivering multi-study recruitment programs, ideally across global or decentralized settings.
  • Operational strength in managing high-volume pipelines, timelines, and participant data workflows.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Clinical Ops, and Commercial teams to drive aligned recruitment efforts.
  • Confidence building trust with sites, partners, and participants, especially in sensitive or complex health contexts.
  • Strong communication skills, including simplifying technical study materials for lay audiences.
  • Fluency in healthtech tools like CRM, eConsent, or prescreening platforms—and familiarity with digital recruitment products.
  • Experience in a product-led healthtech or SaaS environment
  • A track record of building strong relationships with CROs or global trial sites

Even better if you have:

  • Experience scaling recruitment programs internationally, across multiple studies or populations.
  • Strategic experience in trial planning - including patient finding, site selection, and tech stack design.
  • Confidence owning cross-functional product workstreams, especially with digital recruitment tooling.
  • A track record of leading SaaS or platform implementations in healthcare or research settings.
  • Ability to bridge commercial and delivery needs, turning sponsor goals into scalable operational plans.

This role is unlikely to be a great match if:

  • You've only worked in traditional, site-first recruitment environments. This role requires comfort with digital platforms and product collaboration in a SaaS setting.
  • You prefer to follow established processes rather than build and improve them. We're in a growth phase and need someone who can create structure, not just operate within it.
  • You're not confident working at both strategic and hands-on levels. You'll need to move between high-level planning and operational delivery daily.

Research shows that some people are less likely to apply for a role unless they are 100% qualified. Your experience, skills and passion will set you apart so tell us about your achievements, irrespective of whether they are personal or work-related, tell us about your journey, and about what you learnt.

So, if this role excites you, don't let our role description hold you back, get applying!
