Position Overview:
We seek an exceptionally ambitious Head of Capital Formation to lead our overall fundraising strategy and execution. This individual will serve as a permanent member of our leadership team, with a unique opportunity to fully own and shape the capital raising function from an early stage into a robust institutional platform. This role is ideal for someone aiming to advance into the top leadership position at a rapidly growing fund.
The ideal candidate will design, implement, and continuously refine a clear, structured, and scalable fundraising strategy. They will personally raise $80M annually, with an initial 6–10 month ramp-up period before reaching this run-rate.
As Head of Capital Formation, this individual will also help recruit, deploy, and lead all future capital formation hires. The first hire for your team is expected to occur immediately.
The ideal candidate is exceptionally organized, ensuring no detail is overlooked. They excel at bringing structure, rigor, and effective systems to fundraising operations, demonstrating relentless discipline in follow-ups, tracking, and relationship cultivation.
This is not a rolodex sales job—it is a structured, strategic capital formation leadership role that requires discipline, clarity, and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personally raise $80M/year (after 6-10 month ramp to reach this run-rate), using a repeatable and scalable approach.
- Design and own the fund's capital raising strategy across LP segments (family offices, international family offices, RIAs, wealth advisors, small institutions, wealth management platforms, 1031 capital, 721 capital).
- Hire & lead incremental capital formation professionals to ensure they successfully execute your capital raising strategy & hit their individual targets.
- Direct CEO's fundraising efforts to help execute your fundraising strategy.
- Build fundraising workflows, systems, and CRM discipline from day one.
- Track pipeline performance, conversion rates, objections, and LP feedback.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for top-tier LPs.
- Develop and refine all fundraising materials, presentations, FAQs, and collateral
- Build and manage a team of fundraising professionals over time.
- Contribute to firm-wide leadership, sharing input on overall strategy, operations, and execution.
- Own Scholastic Capital's Investor Portal, ensuring accurate log of investor positions that match our fund administration reporting.

- Collaborate closely with the CEO and leadership peers to set ambitious goals and drive execution.
Qualifications:
- 7–15 years of relevant fundraising experience in private funds or capital advisory.
- Strong preference for someone currently the #2 or #3 person in the fundraising organization for a larger platform and wants to move into leadership of capital formation, have a spot on the leadership team, and the ability to pick and drive strategy
- Demonstrable and easily proven track record of personally raising significant capital ($500M+) from sophisticated LPs
- Highly organized and structured; lives by process and systems.
- Exceptionally polished communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
- Proven ability to build and scale capital formation infrastructure.
- Strong strategic thinking and business judgment.
- Values-aligned: high integrity, low ego, and execution-driven.
- Must be based in Chicago (no exceptions) for in-office collaboration
Compensation:
- Competitive base & bonus salary.
- Pre-negotiated raises tied to fund NAV milestones to provide line of sight to future compensation.
- Participation in the General Partnership (GP).
