Role Overview

We are seeking a strategic, visionary, and execution-focused Head of Market Access & Patient Services for our US business. This person will lead a team responsible for shaping and executing a comprehensive market access strategies including pricing, reimbursement, contracting, payer engagement, and patient access programs for our growing biosimilars portfolio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving access to Biocon's biosimilar portfolio across payer segments, including commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, 340B covered entities, and pharmacy and medical benefit channels. This leader will also oversee patient support services ensuring seamless access, affordability, and adherence. The role requires deep experience in U.S. market dynamics, strong relationships across the payer and provider ecosystems, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Market Access Strategy & Execution

  • Lead access strategy across payers, PBMs, GPOs, and government programs including Medicare, Medicaid, and 340B.
  • Develop and execute pull-through strategies for both pharmacy benefit (retail/specialty) and medical benefit (buy-and-bill) channels.
  • Build and maintain relationships with national and regional payer decision-makers and trade partners.
  • Shape pricing, contracting, and reimbursement strategies for new biosimilar launches.
  • Monitor policy and regulatory changes impacting access, including CMS, FDA, 340B, and Medicaid Best Price rules.
  • Lead patient support programs ensuring affordability and smooth onboarding.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) to design compliant and patient-centric service models.

Payer Engagement & Contracting

  • Develop value propositions and economic models to support formulary positioning.
  • Lead payer negotiations and develop innovative access solutions including value-based agreements.
  • Cultivate relationships with key national and regional payers, trade partners, and institutional customers.

Patient Access & Affordability

  • Design and oversee patient access programs including HUB services, copay assistance, PAP, and specialty pharmacy models.
  • Ensure patient-centric models are scalable and compliant, removing barriers to initiation and adherence.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, medical, legal, regulatory, supply chain, and field teams to ensure alignment and execution.
  • Represent the United States in global pricing/access strategy discussions.
  • Build and lead a high-performing market and patient access team.
  • Collaborate with Policy & Government Affairs to advocate for biosimilar-friendly reimbursement environments.

Background & Experience Required

  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in Market Access, Payer Strategy, Pricing, and Policy, preferably in biosimilars or biologics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
  • Experience working with patient services / HUB providers and designing support programs.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. reimbursement systems including Medicare Part B & D, Medicaid, 340B, and commercial plans.
  • Strong U.S. market access experience is essential; experience directly with Speciality Pharmacy and Payer/Private Label organizations is preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of pricing and contracting, reimbursement, payer landscape, and patient access models.
  • Experience in biosimilars, specialty biologics, or complex generics highly preferred.
  • Retina, Immunology, Oncology (Part B) and/or Insulin experience
  • Proven success in payer negotiations and patient support strategy.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic influencing skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience launching biosimilars or specialty biologics.
  • Understanding of healthcare economics, policy dynamics customer decision making and influencing.
  • Relationships and negotiation experience with top GPOs and National customers
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed, fast-paced global organization
