This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader ready to build on a strong foundation and elevate the program to new heights. The Head Coach will provide hands-on coaching, program design, and leadership across all levels of the Tumblettes, fostering a culture of excellence, resilience, and team spirit.This role is about more than teaching skills—it's about shaping athletes into confident, disciplined, and empowered young people. You'll design and implement training that challenges and motivates gymnasts, lead the Tumblettes to success at local and regional competitions, and inspire both athletes and families with a clear vision for growth. The Head Coach will also collaborate with staff, parents, and volunteers to ensure a safe, supportive, and high-performance program that reflects the YWCA's mission of empowerment and equity.If you're an experienced gymnastics professional with a passion for competitive coaching and a talent for developing athletes on and off the mat, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.*Key Responsibilities** *Lead with Vision: *Design and oversee training across all levels of the TUMBLETTES program, creating a pathway from beginner to competitive excellence.* *Hands-On Coaching:* Provide direct coaching that drives athlete achievement at local, regional, and beyond, ensuring gymnasts perform with skill, confidence, and pride.* *Grow the Program: *Build and sustain a thriving developmental pipeline, attracting and retaining athletes from across Westchester and neighboring communities.* *Elevate Training & Development:* Guide athletes through seasonal progressions while tailoring training to their cognitive, behavioral, and motor skill growth.* *Plan & Execute Season Strategy:* Create and manage workout schedules, advancement criteria, and meet calendars that balance team needs with individual athlete goals.* *Champion Team Travel:* Oversee all aspects of team travel—including budgeting, itineraries, lodging, staff supervision, and parent communication—to ensure safe, well-organized, and positive experiences.* *Build & Support Your Team:* Assign and supervise assistant coaches and substitutes, providing mentorship and ensuring consistent coverage for practices and competitions.* *Set & Track Goals:* Define performance benchmarks for the TUMBLETTES, collaborate with athletes on age-appropriate goals, and report progress to leadership.* *Promote Team Culture:* Foster an environment of positivity, self-discipline, sportsmanship, and resilience, where athletes feel supported and challenged.* *Ensure Safety & Readiness:* Monitor and maintain gymnastics equipment, ensuring all safety, maintenance, and replacement needs are met.* *Stay Current & Inspired:* Participate in professional development, workshops, and clinics to bring fresh techniques and strategies to the team.* *Flexibility & Commitment:* Be available for evening and weekend hours, embracing the dynamic schedule of a competitive gymnastics program.Other duties as assigned to support the success and growth of the TUMBLETTES program.*Essential Experience** Head Coach Candidates: Minimum 4–6 years coaching USAG Levels 2–9 or Xcel competitive teams* Experience designing training plans, conditioning, and meet prep cycles* Demonstrated experience in spotting advanced-level skills and managing athlete progressions* Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.* Prior experience traveling with teams to competitions required*Qualifications*_Education:_* High school diploma or equivalent required* Associate or bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physical education, or related field preferred_Additional Qualifications:_* USAG Professional Membership required (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire)* CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)* Strong technical spotting and event coaching skills across all four apparatus* Excellent communication and leadership skills with athletes, families, and staff* Ability to lift 50+ lbs and support athletes through physical spotting* Experience working in a collaborative coaching environment and contributing to a shared vision* Commitment to upholding the YWCA's mission of equity, empowerment, and inclusive youth development*Physical Demands:*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive.
