Apply now to join FAU on its race to excellence.For more information on everything FAU has to offer, please visit www.fau.edu/jobs.Note: Current FAU employees must apply as an internal applicant by logging into their existing Workday employee account.Position Summary:This position will focus on developing robotics and cyber physical systems solutions, using machine learning and artificial intelligence, to support different aspects of marine science, with opportunities to expand to other areas.This is a 12-month, non-tenure-accruing position, available in the Systems and Imaging Laboratory (SAIL) at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute/Florida Atlantic University.Currently, SAIL is conducting multiple projects ranging from Hybrid Aerial Underwater Robotic System (HAUCS) – a cyber physical system (CPS) for aquaculture, to sensors and platforms for maritime applications. The Postdoc's primary task will be to lead the development of algorithm, software, and hardware to extend the current HAUCS framework.This includes developing the sensors, sensing robotic platform, environmental prediction model, and visualization tool as needed. The tasks will also include field experiments to test the instruments and validate models; preparing data reports and presentations for technical conferences; publishing results in peer-reviewed journals; and mentoring students in the lab. There will also be opportunities to work on other related projects, include the application of AI to solve underwater vision problems.
