Job Summary

Langan has an immediate opening for a Hazardous Building Materials Professional with 8+ years of experience in asbestos, lead-based paint, PCB, and indoor air quality consulting to join our New Haven, CT office. The ideal candidate will have experience leading hazardous building materials surveys and abatement monitoring, possess strong technical education, a professional demeanor, and an entrepreneurial mindset. A desire to help build a rapidly growing practice group is essential.

Job Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute hazardous/regulated building material inspections and abatement project monitoring.
  • Conduct IAQ and PCB assessments.
  • Develop scopes of work and prepare proposals for inspections, monitoring, and IAQ projects.
  • Attend client and construction meetings as needed.
  • Work overtime or outside normal hours as required.
  • Coordinate with laboratories, subcontractors, and project teams.
  • Prepare inspection, monitoring, and IAQ reports.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.
  • Report directly to the HBM Practice Lead in New England.

Secondary responsibilities include developing new client relationships, participating in business development, cross-training, coordinating with other disciplines, and occasional travel within New England and NY.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Science.
  • 8+ years of related hazardous building materials survey and abatement experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Connecticut and Federal asbestos, lead, and PCB regulations.
  • Required Licenses/Certifications:
    • State of CT DPH Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor
    • State of CT DPH Licensed Lead Inspector
  • Ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Experience with environmental and building abatement projects.
  • Proficiency in proposal writing, estimates, reports, and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and flexibility in working hours.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently or in a team.
