Hayes Intermediate Choir Director/Secondary Choir Assistant Director
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teacher's certificate with a Music Education (JX or JQ) endorsement.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining a successful choral program.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient keyboard skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in vocal pedagogy with developing voices.
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Director of 6th Grade Choir programming at Hayes Intermediate School.
- Assistant Director of Choral Activities in the secondary choral department.
- Planning choral events such as concerts, field trips, and choral recruitment events.
- Excellent conducting and rehearsal technique; good organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Experience in creative concert planning, resulting in successful choral development.
- Ability to impart music theory and vocal technique to choir in simple, accessible ways.
- Communicates regularly with students, parents, families, and administration regarding choral activities.
- Participates in professional development, maintains appropriate certification and qualifications.
- Creates a positive, engaging classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriately responds to the maturity level and interest of the students.
- Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
- Proactively teaches appropriate behavior and expectations.
- Evaluates the academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates regularly with students, parents, families, and administration in advocacy of student growth.
- Adheres to district and school rules and procedures.
- Conducts behavior to demonstrate collegiality and professionalism.
- Maintains regular predictable in-person attendance.
