We recognize that our diverse workforce allows us to provide culturally competent care to everyone in our community.The Harm Reduction Worker is responsible for helping with the daily operations of Evergreen's Drop-In Services including non-judgmental space, shower, laundry, food and beverage and individual and group support. This role ensures that services are provided smoothly, in a safe environment and tracked appropriately.As part of the essential functions of the role, the Harm Reduction Worker:* Completes shifts as needed in the Drop-In Services by assisting staff and peers in providing daily services including shower, laundry, and more.* Takes initiative on greeting patients, patient sign-in, directing phone calls, and managing sign-up for shower and laundry while in Drop-In area.* Approaches patients of Drop-In Services to promote activities and explore their individualized service needs.* Cross-trained to be able to fill in for outreach and mobile unit services when staff shortages occur.* Completes shifts as needed at the SEP desk by conducting exchange encounters, providing Naloxone and wound care supplies, making appropriate referrals, and occasional syringe sweeps in the neighborhood.* Maintains competency in education pertaining to people who use drugs, including but not limited to overdose prevention (Narcan training), conversations about safer use, disease prevention and available resources at Evergreen and in the community.* Maintains understanding of program workplan and appropriate procedures for documenting services.* Provides effective and appropriate response to behavioral incidents and health emergencies involving patients of the Harm Reduction Center, in collaboration with other staff members, in adherence to agency/program protocols.* Communicates appropriately and professionally with neighbors, law enforcement and other community stakeholders.* Collaborates with Evergreen's Security Team.Qualified Candidate will have an Associate degree in public health or related field -OR- two (2) years of experience working with at risk populations. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally.
