Responsibilities: This entry-level Hardware Validation Engineer position will support the development, testing, and troubleshooting of hardware products across platforms such as servers, networking equipment, and personal computing devices. The Hardware Validation Engineer Level 1 will assist with setting up test environments, running verification tests, and issue triage. This position is part of the Engineering Services team, which works across departments to support the engineering and operation teams with technical expertise in electronics, operational software, and systems integration.Duties/Responsibilities:
- Test Environment Setup: Assist in configuring test stations to simulate real-world operating conditions. Set up hardware, software, and test procedures to validate product functionality and compliance with design requirements.
- Scale Testing and Debug Support: Execute scale tests to evaluate product behavior under given scenarios. Assist with issue triage and root cause investigations and basic debugging during hardware evaluation or production failures.
- Issue triage: reproduce the issue and identify the issue orientation – script, software, or hardware related.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of test results, procedures, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with peers and senior engineers to complete technical assignments that contribute to the team's engineering support goals.
- Perform other technical tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- (Example of skills set) Due to the cross-functional nature of the team's responsibilities, candidates with a broad foundation in electronics and computer hardware are highly preferred.
- Familiarity with servers, including the understanding of components.
- Basic knowledge of hardware such as network switches, power systems, and PCs/ laptops.
- Foundational understanding of computer hardware architecture (e.g., system bus, PCI-e, USB).
- Hands-on experience with test tools like oscilloscopes, digital multimeters (DMM), and soldering equipment. (Preferred)
- Exposure to management protocols (e.g., Redfish, IPMI) is a plus.
- Knowledge of or exposure to communication protocols and standards (e.g., Ethernet, PCIe).
- Experience with or exposure to programming or scripting languages (e.g. Python) for test automation and data analysis.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office tools for documentation and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and methodical problem-solving.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in a technical environment.
- Team-oriented, dependable, and willing to learn from senior engineers.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering (preferred), Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
- Internship, academic, or project-based experience with computer hardware or circuit boards is preferred.
- Basic lab experience with hardware debugging tools is a plus. Physical Requirements: (Example of requirement)
