Job Responsibilities

Design Engineers contribute to project success by utilizing their design experience to accomplish technical tasks and deliver customer solutions. The Level 3 Design Engineer relies on experience and judgment to plan and achieve goals, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Capable of developing electrical diagrams with efficiency and accuracy, and correcting mistakes in diagrams. Works under minimal supervision.

Essential Functions
  • Lead and coordinate design, planning, and completion of engineering projects.
  • Analyze schematics, specifications, and drawings to determine design factors.
  • Produce accurate electrical device and panel layouts, motor/control schematics, and bill of materials.
  • Review designs for compliance with specifications, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support field engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes and drawings.
  • Utilize CAD software to develop designs.
  • Communicate project status to team members.
  • Design electrical circuits, power distribution systems, control panels, and network architectures.
  • Interface extensively with customers for support and design modifications.
  • May lead and oversee schematic production.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, and develop compliant designs.
    • Willingness to travel and work non-standard hours as needed.
    • Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment and codes (UL508A, NEC, NFPA).
    • Strong understanding of design practices and procedures.
    • Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable.
    • Creative, strategic thinker, and problem-solver.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Education, Experience, and Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field; relevant experience considered.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD and Excel.
    • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, HMI graphics, PLC programming, networking.
    • Experience managing a team.
    • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
