Position Summary:
Precision Instruments is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Quality Systems Manager to lead and improve our quality assurance systems. This role plays a critical part in overseeing inspection processes, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, and driving quality performance through data analysis, documentation management, and cross-functional collaboration. The position is 50% in-office and 50% shop floor/hands-on.
Key Responsibilities:
Process, Component Auditing:
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive internal process and component audit schedule.
- Conduct audits independently, identify gaps, and drive systemic improvements.
Finished Goods Testing:
- Oversee logging and analysis of finished goods test data.
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to testing protocols and product quality.
Calibration Management:
- Maintain and monitor calibration schedules and logs for all tools, gages, and local measurement standards.
- Lead efforts to improve calibration traceability and compliance.
Form, Fit, Function Issue Resolution:
- Investigate and lead resolution of issues identified during inspection or at assembly.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and suppliers to implement effective corrective actions.
Document Control:
- Maintain a well-organized and compliant document management system on internal servers.
- Ensure version control, accessibility, and adherence to document retention policies.
Technical Drawing & CAD:
- Work with engineering to ensure dimensional accuracy, proper tolerances, and document consistency.
- Work with engineering to prepare inspection drawings or visual documentation to support quality control processes.
Warranty Claims & Data Analysis:
- Evaluate, log, and analyze warranty claims to detect patterns and provide actionable insights to design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Customer and Supplier Quality Communication:
- Serve as the primary responder to external inquiries, audits, and questionnaires related to quality systems and materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field ; equivalent experience will be considered. Good mechanical aptitude is a must in understanding how mechanical components fit and function together.
- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality systems, or related field within a manufacturing environment (i.e. measuring components with calipers, micrometers, gages, sorting parts, making rework/scrap/use as-is decisions, etc.)
- Proven ability to lead audits, manage calibration programs, and handle cross-functional quality initiatives.
- Skilled in quality tools and methodologies such as root cause analysis, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, and control plans.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Fusion, or similar) is a plus.
- Experience with ERP or QMS software is a plus.
- Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO9001 is a plus.
