This role requires strong fieldwork experience, technical monitoring skills, and the ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams to support both long-term monitoring and active restoration projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESFunction 1: Habitat MonitoringLead fieldwork for the Estuary Marine Protected Area (EMPA) Monitoring Program and the MLPP Goby Mitigation Monitoring ProgramSupport field activities for the Climate Resilient Monterey Bay (CRMB) regional monitoring programCoordinate and conduct monitoring at restoration sites in collaboration with other CCWG staffMaintain and calibrate all field and sampling equipment, including data loggers, YSI units, and traps.Ensure all permits and land access agreements are secured for monitoring activities; collaborate with the Director when new permits are needed.Function 2 : Data EntryOversee data entry and quality control; coordinate with the other CCWG staff for database managementAssist in data entryFunction 3 : Project ReportingAssist in drafting grant progress reports and take part in all monitoring grant planning meetingsFunction 4 : Habitat RestorationSupport restoration efforts by assisting with on-the-ground activities such as weed whacking, mowing, planting, plant propagation, greenhouse maintenance, and watering as needed.INTERPERSONAL CONTACTSReports to Program Director Frequently interacts with full CCWG TeamSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESN/AQUALIFICATIONSMinimum QualificationsBA in Environmental Studies, Conservation Science, Biology, or equivalent degreeAdditional RequirementsKnowledge of the native flora and fauna of the central coast across multiple coastal habitatsExperience in standardized habitat monitoring techniquesExperience handling large datasets and Data QA/QCAbility to effectively communicate with the public and partnering organizationsKnowledge of Microsoft and Google Suite applicationsDesired AccomplishmentsCompletion of a California Rapid Assessment Method (CRAM) TrainingFirst Aid/CPR trainedExperience using Arc GISPhysical DemandsThis position will involve work outdoors over often rough terrain.
