Job Title: Guidance Counselor / Admission Assistant Position Type: 12-month employee Job Description: The Guidance Counselor serves as a college counselor and registrar for the entire student population and will report directly to the Dean of Academics. They will be the primary support for students with their college search process and designing their class schedule to meet graduation and college entrance requirements. Guidance works with the Athletic Department to ensure students have met NCAA requirements. During the summer hours guidance will work directly with admissions to help approve students for Putnam Science Academy. The Guidance Counselor will work with students outside of the classroom, helping them properly manage stress, social pressures, and/or family life, not only for their overall wellness but also to help them fulfill their academic potential. The Admissions Assistant position will play an integral role in the recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts of our school. This full-time position has a key role in communicating and building relationships with prospective families, students, and agents both nationally and internationally. The Admissions Assistant should have a true passion for our unique co-educational preparatory school, helping to foster our mission to develop young adults, locally and from around the world, who are committed to academic excellence and are engaged citizens. Major Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Being responsible for cultivating relationships with area schools in an effort to attract qualified applicants to Putnam Science Academy. Duties include attending and assisting the Director with managing school fairs and sharing considerable knowledge of Putnam Science Academy with fair attendees.
- Plan, organize, and execute admissions and special events under the guidance of the Admissions Director. These events include but are not limited to open houses, community events, and Shadow a Mustang school day.
- Assist in maintaining and managing all correspondence with current and prospective families.
- Work with the Director of Financial Affairs regarding applications for financial assistance for incoming students.
- Assist in creating and executing the Admissions Marketing Plan.
- Updating and reporting statistics to the Accrediting Body.
