**What You'll Be Doing**

We are currently seeking a **Guest Services Technician** to join our South Wilmington Street Center.

The **South Wilmington Street Center (SWSC)** offers an array of support services to the homeless citizens of Wake County. The center has 234 beds that are utilized 365 days a year to assist homeless adult males in the community. The Emergency Program provides evening shelter for men on a day-to-day basis provided there is bed space available. Although these men are not guaranteed a bed each night, they have the opportunity based on our lottery system.Residents are also provided 2 meals, dinner and breakfast, hygiene kits, shower and laundry access, as well as access to outreach and engagement services. The SWSC also provides more intense services through he Progressive Housing Program and the Case Management Program. Participants in these programs can receive individual and/or group support to facilitate the goal of self-sufficiency and are guaranteed a bed.

The **Guest Services Technician** provides outreach and on-site facility supervision and resident guidance. The position will report to the Guest Services Shift Supervisor.

Job duties include:

* Manage the day to day operations of the shelter

* Admit/check guests into the facility and help to maintain a secure facility

* Provide routine monitoring of the entire facility via rounds, supervision of guests and facility maintenance

* Assist with activities of daily living. Monitor and document behavior

** The Basics (Required Education and Experience)**

* High school diploma or GED

* No specific experience required

* Equivalent education and experience are accepted

** Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)**

* Experience working with the homeless population

* Associate's Degree in a Human Services related field

* Ability to recognize and respect the value of individual differences at all those seeking services including those within the homeless population and those with physical and behavioral challenges

* Ability to convey information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message and the ability to listens and respond appropriately to others

* Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Carolina Homeless Information Network (CHIN)

* Ability to Coordinate Work and the ability to multitask - to remain flexible with daily changing priorities in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to observe, monitor, collect, and record data. Ability to assess the accuracy, validity and integrity of the data Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely with strong attention to detail

* Ability to work Independently

Hiring Range: $16.16- $21.41

**Emergency Service Worker Statement**

Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
