Objectives of this Role:
  • Responsible for the SwRI quality management system audit program as implemented across 8 Technical Divisions ensuring conformance to 9 different management standards (incl. ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025, ISO14001, NQA-1).
  • Coordinate and host external client and regulatory audits.
  • Provide guidance to SwRI regarding updates to applicable quality standards.
  • Ensure internal and supplier audits are performed to the required standards and frequency by qualified and competent auditors.
  • Maintain the SwRI Approved Supplier List and ensure associated records are available, current and accurate.
  • Manage SwRI's contract deliverables tracking and past performance monitoring process.
  • Manage, guide and support continual improvement efforts at SwRI.
  • Provide guidance and input for the SwRI Advisory Committee for Quality Improvement.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Provide management support for the process assessment, continual improvement, and deliverables tracking and past performance teams.
  • Allocate workload for the IQS administrative coordinator.
  • Maintain the SwRI Internal Quality Management audit program, review schedules, audit plans, checklists, presentations and reports.
  • Review and evaluate audit results.
  • Present results to diverse groups.
  • Track supplier audits and evaluate Approved Supplier List (ASL) entries for compliance.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to maintain ASL.
  • Review continual improvement proposals, project plans, and close out reports.
  • Track progress to ensure overall goals are being accomplished.
  • Review and approve Institute Quality Systems operating procedures, work instructions and forms.
  • Participate in QMS management reviews and track performance metrics.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors or a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry degree or related degree field with directly related experience.
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Supplier Quality Professional is a plus.
  • 5+ years: Experience of quality management system auditing requirements and best practices. Experience with quality management certifications (ISO9001, AS9100, ISO7025, ISO14001, NQA-1).
  • 5 years: Lead auditor certification in at least one applicable Quality Management System.
  • 5 years: Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and methodology, including six sigma, lean manufacturing, statistical analysis
  • 5 years: Leadership / management experience leading a diverse team of exempt and non-exempt staff
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
