Groundsworkers I - Facilities ManagementSalary: $24.50/hour (returning summer Groundsworker); $19.60/hour(new hires (80%) Location: Facilities Management Position Status: Part-time, Summer Temporary Hours: 7:00AM-3:00PM. Monday-Thursday (Subject to change per CBA) Position Number: 890040/64-063 FLSA Status: non-exemptPOSITIONSUMMARY:Responsible for the care of lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers. Cut grass, trim and edge around walks andflower beds, prune shrubs. Sprayinsecticide and fertilizers. Rake orsweep grass, leaves, litter and remove same. Make minor repairs. Load andunload trucks, move furniture, and drive vehicles. Perform related work as needed.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The groundsworker will be responsible for a variety of duties throughout the University. Thiswill include lawn care, repairs, the movement of furniture, etc.Completes other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum qualifications:High school or vocational school diplomaAlternately, thesuccessful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience andtraining, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing:Good physical condition and the stamina to workoutdoors in weather extremes.Possess driver's license -Class I.Any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform essential job functions, which include but are not limitedto: the care of lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers; knowledge of tools andmethods of grounds maintenance.Ability to operate tractors,riding mowers, hand mowers and line trimmers.Willingness to work overtimeand holidays.Integrity and dependabilityand an ability to work well with others.Commitment to the University's values of diversity, equity and inclusion, andrecognition of the importance of treating each individual with dignity andrespect consistent with the University's Mission.
